What do we look at during an MOT test?
The MOT (Ministry of Transport) vehicle test sets out guidelines to inspect your cars roadworthiness using a variety of factors. We check the interior, exterior, under the bonnet (engine) and under vehicle checks (chassis), brake tests together with an emissions test to ensure your car meets road safety and environmental standards.
MOT test while you wait
On average an MOT takes around 45 minutes. While you wait we have a comfortable seating area with hot drinks and Wifi you can use while waiting. We are also very close to a large B&Q which you could browse while you wait.
What to bring
You only need to bring your car with you to an MOT. We can check your vehicles MOT history by looking it up on the government central database. This way we know what we need to know about your vehicle and you don’t need to bring any paper work in with you. Having said that if you know your car will need some work after it’s MOT test then please bring anything we might need to access areas of your car we might otherwise be unable to access – things like locking wheel nuts so we can remove your wheels.
Book your MOT test early
If you wait until your MOT expires and your car fails you may be without a car for as long as it takes for your car to be deemed roadworthy again. If you book your car in for an MOT upto a month before the MOT expires then you will have plenty of time to address any problems that arise during an inspection. You won’t loose your expiry date either – meaning you will get 13 months on your MOT instead of 12.
